Privacy Policy
Effective October 26, 2026.
Network Status Menu and its admin helper collect no personal data. Nothing you see in the app is sent to us. There is no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting.
What stays on your Mac
- Interface details, addresses and traffic statistics are read from macOS and stored only on your Mac, in the app's own container.
- If you allow Location Services, the app reads the Wi-Fi network name to display it. Your location itself is never read or stored.
- Notifications are created locally by the app.
- The pairing key for the admin helper is kept in your keychain; the helper keeps only a fingerprint of it.
Network requests the app makes
- Public IP lookup, only if you turn it on: a request to the service you choose (ifconfig.me, ipconfig.io, or your own URL). That service sees your IP address and is covered by its own privacy policy.
- Update checks, in the version downloaded from our website: the app and the admin helper fetch update feeds and downloads from nsm.deadcrew.com, which GitHub Pages hosts. GitHub sees your IP address, as with any website. The Mac App Store version updates through the App Store.
- Admin helper version check, if the helper is installed: a request to nsm.deadcrew.com for the newest helper version.
